Hyderabad: In 2023, Hyderabad emerged as the most popular city to visit in India, closely followed by Bengaluru. Uttar Pradesh claimed the top spot as the most visited state, closely trailed by Maharashtra, according to OYO's Travelopedia 2023.

OYO reported that between September 30 to October 2, there were the highest bookings, marking the peak for long weekends throughout the year. Interestingly, cities like Gorakhpur, Digha, Warangal, and Guntur saw a significant increase in bookings compared to 2022.

Shreerang Godbole, OYO's Global Chief Service Officer, noted that 2023 seemed promising for the travel industry, signalling a potential return to normalcy post-COVID challenges. He highlighted the ongoing trend of exploring domestic destinations, which continued to be prevalent. Leisure destinations globally witnessed growth, and in India, there was also a notable increase in business travel.

Additionally, the data revealed September 30, 2023, as the most booked day, while May 2023 saw the highest number of bookings for the month.
