Hyderabad, January 18: Telangana continues to attract huge investments from top firms including diversifiedconglomerate Tata Group, during the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2024 in Davos, Switzerland. On Thursday, Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy and Tata Sons Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran discussed Tata Group’s ongoing and future business plans in the State.

Tata Technologies Limited (TTL) promised to make an investment of around Rs 1,500 crore to set up advanced skilling centres in 50 Government ITIs andalso deploy master trainers for handholding the new courses. It is partnering with the State government to upgrade and transform government ITIs as Advanced Technology Centres to impart long term and short term courses in industry 4.0 trades and bridge the skill gap.

Tata Group is expanding its Air India fleetand has plans to increase both domestic and international connections fromHyderabad, and make the city an important transit hub.

Speaking on theoccasion, Revanth Reddy said: “Tata group is a vital partner and keycontributor to State’s economic growth. Our government is committed tofacilitating Tata Group's investments in different sectors. We are happy topartner with TTL to establish advanced tech centres in Government ITIs and welcomeTTL to join the initiative to set up dedicated skill universities inTelangana”.

NatarajanChandrasekaran said: “Telangana is a strategically important location for theTata group. As a group, we intend to expand in Telangana as much as possibleand we look forward to working cooperatively with the new government.”

Another major announcement came from BL Agro to invest Rs 500 crore in Telangana. It hassigned an initial pact with the state government to set up a manufacturingplant in the State to make various food products. The new manufacturing unit will be engaged in producing theentire range of brand Nourish products -- wheat flour, pasta, vermicelli,spices, papad, etc, along with rice bran and cottonseed oils.

"It is amoment of pride for us as a Group company to sign an MoU with the Telanganagovernment and expand our footprints in the Southern part of the country,"Ashish Khandelwal, Managing Director, BL Agro said.

On the same day at Davos, Uber, the globally renownedmobility and SAAS company, has announced its ambitious expansion plans inHyderabad, underscoring the city's thriving talent pool and pro-businessenvironment. This strategic move follows a successful meeting between CMRevanth Reddy's delegation and Uber's leadership team. This expansion projectis expected to generate employment opportunities for approximately 1000 skilledengineers.UK-based medical devices maker SurgicalInstruments Group Holdings (SIGH) also announced its plan to set up amanufacturing facility in Hyderabad with an investment of Rs 231.5 crore overthe next two-three years. In phase 1, SIGH will manufacture general surgicalinstruments, precision surgical instruments used in micro-surgeries,orthopaedic power tools, dermatomes used in maxo surgery, ophthalmicinstruments and minimal invasive surgery. In Phase 2, the company will expandto manufacturing of robotic medical devices.Meanwhile, o9 Solutions also announced plans to launch a specialised supply chain skills academy while Qcentrio, a prominent IT development and services provider, has announced that it will create 1,000 jobs in Telangana by expanding its operations. Representatives of both the companies met Telangana's IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu at the WEF.
