Sridhar Vembu, the visionary founder of Zoho Corp, has announced his decision to step down as the company’s CEO to take on the role of Chief Scientist. Known for his dedication to sustainable development and the rural economy, Vembu shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), explaining his shift toward research and development (R&D).

In his post, Vembu said, “A new chapter begins today. With the challenges and opportunities ahead, including significant advancements in AI, I have decided to focus full-time on deep R&D initiatives while continuing my personal mission of rural development.”

Shailesh Kumar Davey, the company's co-founder, will succeed Vembu as the new group CEO. Vembu also announced additional leadership changes: Tony Thomas will head Zoho's U.S. operations, Rajesh Ganesan will lead the ManageEngine division, and Mani Vembu will oversee the Zoho.com division.

Vembu expressed excitement about returning to hands-on technical work. “The future of our company depends on how effectively we tackle the R&D challenges ahead. I am looking forward to this new assignment with energy and vigor,” he added.

This transition marks a pivotal moment for Zoho Corp as it navigates the rapidly evolving landscape of technology and innovation.
