Pragya Misra, at 39 years old, has been appointed as OpenAI's inaugural hire in India, assuming the role of Head of Government Relations. This significant milestone marks the first step for OpenAI in establishing a presence in the country, with Misra tasked with navigating the complex landscape of government policies and fostering strategic partnerships.

Although the official announcement is pending, insider sources have confirmed Misra's recruitment to spearhead public policy initiatives and forge alliances within India.

Prior to joining OpenAI, Misra served as the Director of Public Affairs at Truecaller since July 2021, where she played a pivotal role in advancing the company's objectives through engagement with governmental bodies, stakeholders, investors, and media entities.

Her professional journey includes a tenure at Meta Platforms Inc, during which she led WhatsApp's endeavors to combat misinformation in 2018. Misra has also garnered experience at Ernst & Young and the Royal Danish Embassy in New Delhi.

Educationally, Misra holds an MBA from the International Management Institute, complemented by a commerce degree from Delhi University and a Diploma in Bargaining and Negotiations from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Misra is a multifaceted individual. She hosts the Pragyaan Podcast, delving into topics spanning meditation, consciousness, and beyond. With a substantial following of 35,000 on Instagram (@pragyaan_podcast), she exerts influence as a podcaster and social media personality.

In addition to her intellectual pursuits, Misra boasts a passion for golf, having represented India in numerous international tournaments from 1998 to 2007. Moreover, she is a certified Heartfulness Meditation Trainer, advocating for the transformative power of meditation.
