Ola Offers Lucrative Earnings of Rs 70,000 Monthly to Expand E-Bike Taxi Service

Ola is aggressively expanding its electric bike taxi service in Bengaluru and enticing e-bike riders with the promise of potential earnings of up to Rs 70,000 per month. In addition to this, the company is allowing individuals to rent electric scooters for a security deposit of Rs 5,000, enabling them to join as e-bike taxi riders.

This move by Ola is part of its strategy to bolster its e-bike services in Bengaluru and gain a competitive edge over rivals like Uber, despite opposition from autorickshaw drivers. While Karnataka was the first state in India to introduce an e-bike taxi policy, other states are following suit, aiming to reduce the use of polluting fuels.

Ola Electric relaunched its e-bike taxi service on September 16, using Ola Electric's S1 scooters, with ride rates fixed at Rs 25 for distances up to 5 km and Rs 50 for rides spanning 5 km to 10 km.

Ola is actively recruiting more e-bike taxi riders and is promoting this endeavor with enticing offers and schemes. Applicants need to provide essential documents, including a PAN card, Aadhaar, and a valid driver's license. Charging fees for the e-bikes vary based on the number of bookings, with no charges for those with 20 or more bookings.

Ola is operating its e-bike taxi service in Bengaluru without a formal license from the Karnataka transport department, which is currently pending. The company is operating under the guidance of the Karnataka High Court, which directed the state government not to take any coercive actions against Ola, Uber, and Rapido bike taxis until specific regulations are in place.

Despite challenges, Ola enjoys an advantage due to its electric vehicle manufacturing unit, Ola Electric, which produces electric scooters and has plans for India's sportiest electric car. As the transition to electric vehicles continues, Ola is well-positioned to lead the market with its in-house electric vehicle production.
