Hyderabad Based Startup Beforest Initiates Permaculture Communities Across Multiple Indian States

Beforest, a sustainability startup based in Hyderabad, has initiated the establishment of six communities in Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh. These communities embrace permaculture principles, empowering residents to cultivate their own food. Beforest secures sizable tracts of land, each spanning at least 100 acres, and transforms them into mini-villages that mimic natural forests, with housing occupying just 10-15% of the landscape. The company's ambitious vision encompasses creating self-sustaining environments covering a minimum of 10,000 acres within the next decade. These communities, with individual costs ranging from ₹50 to ₹100 crore, extend shared ownership opportunities to urban buyers seeking a rustic farmhouse lifestyle.

Beforest also actively engages in conservation initiatives, establishing wilderness collectives in areas dominated by nature. These collectives yield a diverse range of crops, including rice, millets, vegetables, fruits, coffee, cardamom, pepper, avocados, and dragon fruits. Furthermore, Beforest places a strong emphasis on enhancing the skills of and providing employment to local residents, thereby fostering sustainable economies in the vicinity of its collectives.

The startup markets its produce under the brand name "Bewild" and maintains a commitment to long-term sustainability by implementing biodiversity preservation measures and embracing a multi-faceted returns framework.
