Nathan Anderson, founder of Hindenburg Research, has strongly refuted recent media reports linking the US short-seller to an alleged plot involving Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and efforts to undermine the Adani Group. Anderson dismissed the claims as "fabricated out of thin air," labeling them "lousy spy fiction" and criticizing the journalists involved for failing to carry out basic fact-checking.

In a detailed post on X (formerly Twitter), Anderson said, “A couple of days ago, a wire agency published a story claiming that Adani worked with dozens of Mossad agents to ‘expose’ us. The article reads like lousy spy fiction and looks to be fabricated out of thin air. The reporter didn’t even reach out to us for comment — one of the most basic duties of a credible journalist.”

Anderson highlighted several inaccuracies he found laughable. For instance, he pointed out that the article alleged Hindenburg had collaborated with "a complex web of activist lawyers, journalists, hedge funds, and political figures" — yet failed to name even one. "We didn’t, and the article doesn’t name a single one," he stressed.

He also mocked claims that operatives infiltrated a site in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, to uncover encrypted communications connecting activists and asset managers. "We have no office in Chicago. I’ve never been to Chicago, and the article doesn’t explain how a random suburban address is related to anything," he said. "If such a communications network exists, we’ve never been part of it."

Further disputing the report, Anderson said the claim that Adani’s legal firm, Quinn Emanuel, sent a seven-page legal brief to Hindenburg’s office was completely false. "This never happened. As far as I can tell, the supposed seven-page letter is entirely fabricated," he asserted.

Regarding another claim of a secret meeting between Hindenburg and Adani representatives in New York, Anderson said, "Again, none of this ever happened. It seems to have been invented out of thin air. (Hindenburg doesn’t even have 'officials.' I ran it and we had a team of analysts.)"

Responding to separate accusations reported by Sputnik News, Anderson also denied any interaction with Indian political figures. A Sputnik report had claimed Hindenburg representatives met Rahul Gandhi in Palo Alto in May 2023. Anderson replied, "I’ve never even been to Palo Alto, and no one on my team — nor any ‘allies’ — have ever met or spoken with any Indian politician, opposition or otherwise."

He further clarified that there had been no meetings or communications with Biden administration officials either, contrary to Sputnik's claims.
