FGG urges KTR to provide job, investment details

Bengaluru The Forum for Good Governance (FGG) has urged the Minister for IT and Industries of Telangana government, KT Rama Rao to direct the officials to provide the details of jobs created and investment made in the state during the last eight years.

Earlier, the Minister has stated that Telangana attracted Rs 3.30 lakh crore of investment and created 22.5 lakh jobs in the last eight years under the leadership of present establishment. However, when FGG sought the information under RTI (Right to Information) application, various departments showed their inability to provide such information due to lack of availability.

“Forum for Good Governance would like to bring to the kind notice of Minister for IT to direct concerned officials to provide industry wise investment made and jobs created so that people will believe the figures stated by the Minister. In absence of it, there is every possibility and danger of people taking the information provided by the Minister with a pinch of salt and effects the credibility of statements made in the future by the Minister,” FGG Secretary, M Padmanabha Reddy wrote in a letter to the Minister.

Notably, FGG sought the information on January 5, 2023 and has been directed to apply for the data concerned from several departments till then. Ironically, no department has the details of sector-wise breakup of neither investment nor jobs created.

The government has earlier stated that jobs were created in sectors like information technology, biotechnology, real estate, hospitality, mining, logistics and many more as it provided conducive investment environment for companies to come and invest in the state.

“Constant engagement with companies desirous of investing helped attract investment. The IT and Industries department have done good work in establishment of industries,” the Minister has stated.
