AI startups in India are rising with many entrepreneurs coming with solution, suiting the Indian requirements. Leveraging LLMs (Large Language Models), several legaltech startups are striving to make Indian legal system more efficient and cost effective. NYAI is one such legaltech startup, which has come up with its AI-powered platform with several unique features.

In a conversation with the Bizz Buzz, Chinmay Bhosale said that the cofounding team has a unique blend of expertise in both legal and technology spaces, which makes NYAI’s platform very user-friendly. Bhosale, who has more than two decades of legal practice, said that company’s AI platform doesn’t hallucinate and provide customised output as per user’s need.

The company is also coming up with a compliance platform, which will help companies to track their compliance status in real time. Bhosale, who is one of its co-founders, said that NYAI platform is receiving encouraging response from big law firms and large enterprises.

Can you provide a brief overview about the operations of NYAI? What was the motivation behind starting NYAI?

The team behind NYAI is myself and two of my cofounders. I come from the legal fraternity with 16 years of experience. My three generations are into legal practice. So, legal acumen is being brought to the table through my several decades of legal experience. My cofounders are seasoned technology professionals.

They have built companies, which was bought by a Tier-I IT firm. Last year, we discussed setting up a company in the legal, regtech (regulatory technology), and compliance space—an area that has not yet been explored in India. Formally, we incorporated the company in March 2025 and built the product. So, that’s how the journey has started.

NYAI is a vertically-trained deeptech legal solution platform with AI capabilities. Our platform provides everything a legal team requires- be it a law firm’s legal team, or inhouse legal team of any enterprise. We have built a legal intelligence platform around our country’s legal sector.

That covers all judgements of all High Courts, Supreme Court, tribunals and others. All orders, circulars, notifications and legal norms of bodies like CBDT and others are covered in our intelligence platform. All the Central Acts, State Acts and Concurrent Acts are covered in our platform.

Our platform provides results within seconds taking into account the context of the case like a seasoned lawyer. Usually, a lawyer makes his/her specialisations in certain areas. It is impossible for a lawyer to read everything.

Thankfully, now we have created a system, which has read every judgement. It has been trained as a system, which can corelate, link and interpret like a seasoned lawyer and then give the outcome in seconds.

Various generative AI platform like ChatGPT, Gemini AI, Grok and others provide information related to legal aspects. What are the unique features of NYAI’s platform? Can you provide some perspective in this matter?

The important thing NYAI does is that it doesn’t hallucinate. Usually, generative AI tools search the internet and deliver outputs to the user. Most of the time, these tools don’t understand the credibility of that information. NYAI has used the LLMs (Large Language Models) for English reading capacity.

After building the context graph and knowledge graph, we have leveraged the LLMs for English reading capacity. When a user searches any legal precedent to the matter, NYAI’s platform provides the literature with citations. The user can see the bare act, case law and others.

So, the entire ecosystem is built in such a way that the user gets all credible information sources with direct links. The user doesn’t have to worry about whether the platform is hallucinating or providing fake output. As we work in the legal world, we understand that there may be legal documents which are not available in digital format but the physical documents are available with the user.

We have given the option to the user that if the user has the physical document, then he/she can upload that document on the platform and ask NYAI to interpret it along with its own database. So, that is the thought process behind the intelligence, we have built in NYAI. We have also dealt differently with the drafting vertical.

Usually, the AI tools provide generalised output in terms of write-up. However, our platform provides customised outcome in terms of drafting, suiting the needs of the particular legal issue. Along with it, we have created the compliance vertical.

We have added another layer to our platform. In India, compliance flows from judicial bodies, and executives. NYAI has mapped the entire 52 ministries in our country and embedded the regulators related to these ministries.

Through our platform, the company or user can see their entire compliance landscape in single dashboard. This dashboard provides real time indications of compliance status to the company.

Can you provide some views about NYAI’s user profile? Have you raised capital so far? Are you planning to raise capital in the near future?

Since the launch, our platform is being used by many leading law firms and companies in India. We are also the funding. Our first funding came in the first six months of our incorporation. This was an angel round and family offices have participated in it. We are planning to raise a Series A round in March.

Before that happens, we want to launch our compliance services within NYAI platform. Our legal platform is currently being used by several Tier-I & II players. Large enterprises with big legal team are also using it. Large MNCs with Indian subsidiaries are also using it.

Though there are many legal-tech platforms, NYAI has several features, which are distinct. In many ways, our platform plugs the loopholes found in other platforms. As we are a team of seasoned lawyers and technology professionals, we bring in the best of both worlds.

Have you started generating revenue from the platform? Can you throw some light into this aspect?

Numbers will reflect from this March end. Currently, our platform is being used in trial stage by several enterprises. Usually, enterprises take time to finalise the trial period. So, our focus currently is on market penetration.

Our pricing is very competitive. As of today, we are giving it at cost. We have also prepared individual lawyer plan but have not released it as we are focussed on enterprises for now.

How big is the team now? Are you planning to increase the team size in the near future?

We are around 20-member team now with three cofounders and one full-time Chief Technology Officer. Our CTO used to run a 400-member team before joining us.

We have a solid team and our AI team is very strong. In the near future, our team size is going to be 30. We will add people as we grow.
