Hyderabad: The Southwest Monsoon has continued its steady advance across Telangana, bringing heavy downpours to several districts since early Tuesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall alert across the state, effective until May 30.

Several areas in Hyderabad experienced intense rainfall on Tuesday night. Other districts—particularly Karimnagar, Mahabubnagar, Rajanna Sircilla, Jagtial, Jangaon, and Bhadradri Kothagudem—witnessed rainfall exceeding 100 mm.

According to the latest IMD bulletin from New Delhi, “The northern limit of the monsoon currently passes through Mumbai, Pune, Sholapur, Mahabubnagar, and Kavali. Conditions are favorable for the further advancement of the Southwest Monsoon over the remaining parts of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh within the next 24 to 48 hours.”

Significant Rainfall Recorded on Tuesday:

Khasmipet, Karimnagar: 114.33 mm

Nampalle, Rajanna Sircilla: 107.8 mm

Jagtial: 102.5 mm

Gundala, Bhadradri Kothagudem: 100 mm

Gudur, Jangaon: 100 mm

In response to the widespread showers, IMD-Hyderabad has issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for the following districts:

Adilabad, Khammam, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Jangaon, Siddipet, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, and Bhadradri Kothagudem.

Rainfall activity is expected to continue across these and other districts through May 30.

Residents are advised to stay alert, follow weather advisories, and take necessary precautions, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
