Hyderabad: EveyTrans Pvt. Ltd., in partnership with the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC), on Wednesday flagged off 65 new electric buses from the Ranigunj Depot under the TGSRTC’s flagship 500 Low-Floor City Bus Project. The rollout marks a major boost to Hyderabad’s public transport infrastructure as the city accelerates its transition to clean and sustainable mobility.
The new addition is part of the 100 electric buses earmarked for the Ranigunj Depot, which now becomes the fifth major operating centre in the project, alongside CNT, Miyapur, HCU and Hayathnagar depots.
Under the 500-bus initiative, TGSRTC is procuring 450 non-AC and 50 AC low-floor electric buses. Of these, 325 have already been delivered, with the remaining 175 scheduled to join the fleet by January 2026. Officials said the steady progress reflects the state’s commitment to building a greener, modern, and commuter-friendly urban transport network.
The flag-off ceremony was attended by Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, TGSRTC VC & MD Y. Nagi Reddy, Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, and Evey Trans CEO Sandeep Raizada, along with other public representatives.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the new fleet would enhance last-mile connectivity across nearly 373 colonies. “Over the last two years, our fleet has grown by 40%. We are strengthening public transport by recruiting new staff, improving cleanliness, adding electric buses, and establishing new depots. The induction of 65 new buses today will significantly improve urban connectivity,” he said.
Evey Trans CEO Sandeep Raizada said the Ranigunj launch marks the company’s 69th depot across India and the fifth in Telangana. “We are currently operating over 3,100 buses in 10 States and two Union Territories. These 65 new buses reaffirm our commitment to support TGSRTC, and we will deliver the remaining units by January 2026,” he said.
