Hyderabad: The Government of Telangana, in collaboration with global healthcare and life sciences consulting firm HealthArk, has unveiled a landmark coffee table book titled “India’s Life Sciences Renaissance: The Hyderabad GCC Opportunity.”

The book celebrates India’s rise as a global life sciences powerhouse and highlights Hyderabad’s transformation into a hub for innovation-led Global Capability Centers (GCCs).

The visually rich publication was officially launched by Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy and IT Minister D Sridhar Babu. The event was attended by senior officials including Sanjay Kumar, Special Chief Secretary (ITE&C); Ajith Reddy, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister; and Shakthi Nagappan, CEO, Telangana Life Sciences Foundation.

The coffee table book traces the evolution of Life Sciences and Healthcare Global Capability Centers (LSHC GCCs) in India—from their early 2000s beginnings as cost-efficient back-office units to their present-day status as high-value global innovation hubs leading R&D, digital transformation, and enterprise strategy.

Positioning Hyderabad as a case study of this transformation, the book notes the city’s thriving ecosystem of over 2,000 life sciences companies, which collectively contribute to one-third of global vaccine production and house 250+ USFDA-approved manufacturing sites, the highest concentration anywhere in the world.

Conceptualised by HealthArk in collaboration with the Government of Telangana, the book features success stories and leadership insights from more than 10 global organisations that have established their GCCs in Hyderabad. It showcases how these centers have evolved into global innovation engines driving advancements in AI, cybersecurity, digital health, fintech, and ESG domains.

Speaking at the launch, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy remarked, “Hyderabad has emerged as a beacon for global innovation, and our Life Sciences GCCs are at the heart of this transformation. The GCC Coffee Table Book celebrates this journey of vision, partnership, and progress. It reflects our commitment to building a life sciences ecosystem where global enterprises thrive, talent flourishes, and ideas shape the future.”

Minister D Sridhar Babu added, “Hyderabad has truly become the preferred destination for GCCs in life sciences and healthcare. This book embodies Telangana’s strategic vision to make Hyderabad a powerhouse of global innovation, driven by our ecosystem, talent, and governance model.”

The narrative also explores the key enablers of Telangana’s life sciences success, including Genome Valley,TG-iPASS, and the city’s ongoing digital transformation in drug development, led by its AI- and data-powered GCC ecosystem.

Dr. Purav Gandhi, Founder of HealthArk, emphasised that “the scale and maturity of GCCs in Hyderabad have grown exponentially, driven by strong collaboration between government, industry, and academia.” Co-founder Mr. Sudeep Krishna added that the book “captures how Hyderabad’s ecosystem is redefining the future of life sciences through foresight, innovation, and policy alignment.”
