Telangana Heatwave Alert: Hyderabad on Orange Warning Till April 25
IMD forecasts heatwave in Hyderabad and north Telangana from April 22–25, with alerts in Adilabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, and more.

High temperature conditions are forecast to continue across Telangana over the next four days, with Hyderabad and several other districts placed under the “Be Prepared” category by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Northern parts of the state are likely to experience isolated heatwave conditions through April 25.
Hyderabad is expected to see maximum temperatures ranging from 41 degrees Celsius to 45 degrees Celsius from April 22 to April 25, putting the city in the orange alert zone. The Meteorological Centre Hyderabad’s forecast classifies this range as “Be Prepared."
Northern Telangana districts including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, and Nirmal have been flagged for yellow warnings from April 22 (Day 1) through April 25 (Day 4). These areas may experience heatwave conditions in isolated locations.
The IMD has detailed the following district-specific warnings and corresponding dates:
- Day 1 – April 22, 2025: Heatwave conditions likely in isolated areas of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, and Nirmal.
- Day 2 – April 23, 2025: Similar heatwave conditions are expected to continue in the same four districts.
- Day 3 – April 24, 2025: The yellow warning is extended to Nizamabad and Jagtial, in addition to the earlier districts.
- Day 4 – April 25, 2025: Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, and Jagtial are all likely to see heatwave conditions in scattered areas.
- Day 5 – April 26, 2025: No weather warnings have been issued for any district. Temperatures may remain high, but heatwave criteria are unlikely to be met.
The IMD categorizes temperatures under four warning levels:
- No Warning: Below 35 degrees Celsius
- Be Alert: 36 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius
- Be Prepared: 41 degrees Celsius to 45 degrees Celsius
- Warning: Above 45 degrees Celsius
On most days of the forecast period, Hyderabad, along with central districts like Karimnagar, Siddipet, Medak, Rajanna Sircilla, and Sangareddy, is expected to experience maximum temperatures in the 41–44 degrees Celsius range.
