Hyderabad: The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) said it has conducted 54 seizures in September 2024 related to various medicine-related offences. During the raids, the DCA seized stocks valued at Rs 19.35 lakh, including 14 drugs that were falsely manufactured and sold as nutraceuticals.

An official release from DCA said, in the month of September, the department detected various offences related to the illegal stocking and sale of drugs by quacks and unlicensed practitioners, medical shops and godowns operating without a valid drug licence, curbed illegal sale of banned drugs, steroids, and cardiac stimulant drugs that are misused by gym-goers for bodybuilding.

Drugs Control Administration of Telangana conducted raids on clinics operated by quacks and unauthorized practitioners, seizing illegally stocked drugs worth Rs 9.16 lakh intended for sale at various locations across the State. DCA officials detected several antibiotics such as Meropenem, Cefadroxil, Cefixime, Cefpodoxime, and others at the clinics during the raids.

DCA issues drug licences to medical shops and pharmacies in the State for stocking and selling medicines as per the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
