Hyderabad: The Minister for Industries and Information Technology, D Sridhar Babu, has been invited by the Government of Victoria and the Government of Australia to deliver the keynote address at AusBiotech 2025, one of the Asia-Pacific region’s most prominent life sciences conventions. Telangana will be the only Indian state featured at this prestigious global platform.
Earlier, Hilary McGeachy, Consul General of Australia, met with Minister Sridhar Babu in Hyderabad to reaffirm the significance of his participation and to explore deeper collaborations between Australia and Telangana in healthcare innovation, artificial intelligence, R&D partnerships, and advanced manufacturing.
The invitation, extended earlier this year, acknowledges Telangana’s remarkable progress in the life sciences sector under the leadership of the Chief Minister and Minister Sridhar Babu. Over the past two years, the state has attracted investments worth Rs63,000 crore, positioning Telangana as a global hub for pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medtech innovation. Hyderabad today ranks among the top seven life sciences clusters worldwide, and notably, it is the only Indian city to feature on that list, according to a recent report by CBRE.
Telangana’s engagement with Australia has grown significantly in recent years. Earlier this year, the Governor of Queensland and the Minister for Finance and Trade of Queensland attended BioAsia 2025 in Hyderabad, highlighting the shared commitment to fostering innovation-led partnerships between the two regions.
