Hyderabad: Minister of Tourism Jupally Krishna Rao launched a scathing attack on former minister and BRS MLA T Harish Rao, accusing him of adopting double standards regarding projects in the erstwhile Palamuru district.

During a media briefing at the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) office within the Assembly on Friday, Jupally Krishna Rao, accompanied by MLAs G Madhusudan Reddy and Veerlapalli Shankar, condemned the situation as disgraceful.

He pointed out that the previous BRS government had initiated Government Orders (GOs) for the development of the Gollapalli Reservoir but is now hindering the project's progress for political advantage.

The Minister recalled that it was the previous BRS government itself that issued a Government Order (GO) in 2016, allocating Rs4,177 crore for the construction of reservoirs with a total capacity of 25 TMC. He stated that proposing 27 reservoirs—including Gollapalli—in March 2019, only to now speak against that very project, amounts to deceiving the people of Palamuru.

Jupally Krishna Rao clarified that there is absolutely no truth to Harish Rao's claim that 80 per cent of the work on the Palamuru-Rangareddy project has been completed.

"They have not even completed the construction of canals; there has been no land acquisition, nor have administrative approvals been secured. Apart from hurriedly switching on the pumps just before the elections to deceive the people, did they actually provide water to even a single acre?" he questioned.

Jupally Krishna Rao further pointed out that while the BRS government spent Rs7,000 crore on Palamuru over the last ten years, the Congress governments in the united state had spent Rs8,300 crore.
