Telangana has introduced a new digital channel through which public services may be accessed, directly integrating MeeSeva with WhatsApp. The students can now use the State’s messaging hotline to get their hall tickets for the SSC, Intermediate, postgraduate courses, and different competitive exams.
The WhatsApp number 8096958096 is going to be available 24/7 for the users to ask for documents and certificates without physically visiting the service centres.
The announcement of the launch was made on Tuesday by IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu. The initiative is a result of the State’s collaboration with Meta and the MeeSeva platform, which has made a huge number of services, more than 580 from 38 departments, available on the messaging app.
Sridhar Babu told that the service would soon have the support of the Telugu and Urdu interfaces and a voice-command layer was in the process of being built so that the users could operate the service without using hands. The State is hopeful that more departments will soon avail of the WhatsApp service.
The Minister, during the event, also mentioned that as part of the government plan to create a long-term workforce tied to global digital opportunities, 10 lakh youth will be trained every year in Artificial Intelligence. He pointed out that Telangana’s digital governance strategy has attracted interest from several States that are looking for service delivery models with minimal friction.
