Jogulamba Gadwal district on Tuesday marked the fifth anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan with coordinated awareness and pledge programmes led by District Collector B.M. Santosh and Superintendent of Police T. Srinivasa Rao, IPS. Both officials urged citizens to join the mission to eliminate drug use and trafficking, stressing that community involvement is essential to safeguard youth and ensure a drug-free future.

At a programme held in the IDOC meeting hall, Collector Santosh said the national campaign, launched in 2020, aims to create a generation that can live freely in a drug-free India. Warning that narcotics destroy the health of individuals and the stability of families, he called for more awareness activities, youth engagement through sports and education, and effective rehabilitation support for those affected. He directed all departments to work in coordination and said monthly reviews are being held to strengthen district-level control measures.

At a separate event at the district police headquarters, SP Srinivasa Rao led police officers, staff and students in a collective anti-drug pledge. He urged every citizen to act as an “Anti-Narcotic Drug Warrior,” noting that drugs like cannabis and synthetic substances endanger the future of young people. The SP said the police are taking strict action against drug transport and sale and appealed to the public to report drug-related information through local police, Dial 100 or the toll-free number 1908, assuring confidentiality for informants.

Senior officials from both the collectorate and police department, along with students and staff, participated in the programmes, reaffirming the district’s commitment to building a drug-free Jogulamba Gadwal.
