A Hyderabad-bound IndiGo flight was forced to return to Tirupati Airport on Sunday night after developing a technical snag mid-air, aviation officials confirmed.
Flight 6E, which took off from Tirupati with several passengers onboard, encountered an unspecified mechanical fault shortly after departure. The aircraft remained airborne for nearly 40 minutes, circling above the region as pilots assessed the situation.
Following standard safety protocol, the crew opted to abort the journey and perform a precautionary landing back at the Tirupati runway. The aircraft touched down safely, and no injuries were reported among passengers or crew members.
Frustration grew among travelers after IndiGo staff failed to offer immediate alternative transport or clarity on rescheduling. Passengers were eventually deboarded and returned home as no replacement flight or rerouting was arranged that night.
The airline has yet to release an official statement regarding the cause of the malfunction or compensation plans for affected flyers.
