IMD Alerts Telangana: Thunderstorms, Lightning and Gusty Winds Incoming
Cyclone Montha to affect Telangana: Hyderabad and nearby districts to face heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds till Oct 30.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that Telangana will have heavy showers and lightning storms in the next two days, considering the effects of Cyclone Montha have reached the area. The alert covers a lot of districts warning from heavy to extremely heavy rains, with strong winds, and thunder also being part of the issue.
During the time frame given (from 1:00 PM, Oct 28 to 8:30 AM, Oct 29), light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected to happen almost everywhere in Telangana. Nevertheless, some districts are more likely to experience very severe conditions. The regions like Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Khammam will see very heavy to extremely heavy rain with thunders and lightning, plus windspeed up to 50–60 kmph.
Apart from these, the other districts that may receive warnings of heavy to very heavy rainfall along with thunder, lightning, and winds of upto 40–50 kmph are Mancherial, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanumakonda. On the other hand, Komuram Bheem Asifabad, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Jangaon, and Nagarkurnool may be witnessing isolated heavy rainfall. The rest of the districts should expect thunderstorms with lightning and wind speeds ranging from 30 to 40 kmph.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at many locations all over the state from 8:30 AM, Oct 29 to 8:30 AM, Oct 30. However, IMD has predicted isolated heavy to very heavy rains with thunderstorms, lightning, and winds of 40–50 kmph in Adilabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, and Warangal.
Heavy rainfall is predicted for scattered areas of KomuramBheem Asifabad, Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds of 30–40 kmph are expected in other districts such as Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy during the day.
