Hyderabad: In a landmark move, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) will organise the International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE) in India for the first time. The four-day global engineering congress will be held from September 10–13, 2025, at the Hyderabad International Convention Center (HICC).
Traditionally organised in the United States, IMECE’s debut in India underscores ASME’s commitment to expanding its global reach and fostering innovation in mechanical and allied engineering. The event is expected to draw nearly 1,500 innovators, academic experts, industry leaders, and policymakers from around the world.
They will be joined by an eminent panel of leaders from global institutions and companies such as Airbus, Mercedes-Benz R&D, Ashok Leyland, Honeywell UOP, and Boeing India.
The congress will feature over 650 peer-reviewed research papers across 11 engineering domains—the highest participation by Indian scholars in three decades of IMECE. A special session, “Turning the Gears: Women Shaping the Future of Mechanical Engineering,” will spotlight leadership and gender parity in the field.
Alongside plenaries, expert-led masterclasses will provide practical guidance on technology adoption, industrial policy, and regional opportunities.
Commenting on the milestone, Madhukar Sharma, President & Director, ASME India, said:
“IMECE India marks a historic first as 145 years of ASME excellence finally comes home. This edition demonstrates ASME’s unwavering commitment to nurturing the art, science, and practice of engineering while enabling the largest-ever participation by Indian scholars in IMECE’s history.”
With Hyderabad emerging as a hub for technology and innovation, IMECE India 2025 is set to reinforce India’s growing influence in global engineering and research.
