Hyderabad saw major waterlogging, traffic jams, and general pandemonium on Monday night as a result of the heavy rains that fell on the city. Due to the heavy rain that fell during rush hour, commuters were left stuck and traffic was sluggish on flooded streets in several important regions.

Secunderabad was one of the worst-hit areas, with key routes including Paradise, Marredpally, and Tarnaka submerged. Rainwater quickly flooded the streets, forcing pedestrians and bicyclists to seek cover beneath flyovers and storefronts.

Rasulpura, Kapra, Patny Crossroads, Habsiguda, Dr. AS Rao Nagar, Neredmet, Malkajgiri, ECIL Crossroads, Alwal, and RP Road and SP Road were among the other impacted places. Traffic police and emergency response teams were sent in to control traffic and help remove flooded roads.

A warning of severe thunderstorms is issued.

Famous meteorologist T. Balaji, also known as Telangana Weatherman on X (previously Twitter), sent out a strong caution to Hyderabad residents to stay inside.

"Dear residents of Hyderabad, the city is about to experience a devastating thunderstorm. A huge cumulonimbus cloud is forming. It is predicted to rain 50 mm in a short period of time. Please stay indoors and be vigilant," Balaji wrote.

As additional rain is predicted, officials have urged residents to be informed through official alerts and refrain from needless travel.

🚧 Key Impact Points:

  • Traffic gridlocks in Secunderabad and central Hyderabad
  • Major waterlogging in residential and commercial areas
  • Authorities mobilized for flood response and traffic management
  • Heavy rainfall warning still in effect
