Hyderabad weather turned wet on Wednesday morning as non-stop rain from an active low-pressure area (LPA) over central India continued to affect large parts of Telangana. Moisture from the Bay of Bengal monsoon system is driving fresh spells of heavy rainfall in Hyderabad and surrounding districts.
Early morning Hyderabad rain slowed peak-hour traffic in several parts of the city, with areas such as Mehdipatnam, Khairatabad, LB Nagar, and Kukatpally reporting waterlogging. IMD Hyderabad has forecast more moderate to heavy showers during the day, with a possibility of intense rainfall in the evening.
The Telangana weather forecast indicates that the current monsoon rains are linked to a strong low-pressure system that has already brought widespread rainfall to Kumurambheem-Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagitial, Peddapalli, Bhupalapally, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Siddipet, Hanmakonda, Warangal, and Mulugu. Southern districts, including Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Nalgonda, Nagarkurnool, and Suryapet, have also recorded heavy showers.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials have advised commuters to check Hyderabad traffic updates before travelling and to avoid flood-prone stretches during peak rain hours. Disaster response teams and drainage maintenance units are on standby to address waterlogging issues.
