The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits are expected to experience varied weather patterns over the next 24 hours, with different phases of rainfall likely through the day and night.
According to the Cyberabad Traffic Police and local meteorological updates, conditions until late afternoon are likely to remain mostly dry across a majority of the city. Only a few scattered pockets could see light, brief showers during this period. Weather activity is expected to intensify from around 5 p.m., when scattered moderate to intense thunderstorms may develop in multiple parts of Hyderabad. These systems could impact both central and peripheral areas, leading to sudden bursts of rain and potential waterlogging in low-lying localities.
Between 5 p.m. and 2 a.m., the thunderstorms are projected to remain active, with some spells producing significant rainfall within short durations. The rainfall intensity during this phase could cause slower traffic movement, and the Cyberabad Traffic Police have urged commuters to plan their travel routes in advance and avoid flood-prone stretches wherever possible.
Following this period, from about 2 a.m. until 9 a.m. on Saturday, light to moderate rainfall is likely in different areas. While this phase is not expected to cause widespread disruption, isolated heavier spells cannot be ruled out. Rainfall accumulation for the day in some neighbourhoods may range between 25 mm and 45 mm, depending on the spread and intensity of the storms.
Officials have clarified that today’s rainfall is not expected to match the severity recorded yesterday, but residents are advised to remain alert, especially during the late evening and night hours when thunderstorm activity will be at its peak.
