Domestic flights from Hyderabad airport to multiple destinations in northern India were cancelled Wednesday after regional airports temporarily closed as a security precaution during Operation Sindoor.
Officials reported that at least 18 services on key routes were called off. Affected sectors included Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Dharamshala and Jodhpur. The cancellations followed directives issued in conjunction with IAF exercises over Rajasthan airspace.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation confirmed that airports in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan halted operations for several hours. The measure aimed to secure airspace after Indian forces struck nine terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir earlier this week.
Airlines operating from Hyderabad issued advisories urging passengers to confirm flight status before departure. Notices highlighted last-minute changes as airspace conditions evolved.
The strikes, conducted under Operation Sindoor, targeted installations linked to designated terror groups, including compounds associated with Maulana Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vowed to respond, raising tensions between the two nations.
