Hyd Airport Is Level 5 Certified In Carbon Management

Hyderabad: GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), operator of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), has earned the Level 5 Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) from Airports Council International (ACI), marking the highest possible recognition for carbon management in the global aviation industry.
With this achievement, RGIA becomes one of only four airports in the ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East region to reach Level 5 — a milestone that affirms its commitment to climate action and sustainability. The ACA programme, introduced by ACI in 2011, evaluates airports on their efforts to measure, reduce, and ultimately neutralise carbon emissions. Level 5 accreditation signifies sustained net zero CO₂ emissions for Scope 1 and 2, with a clear pathway toward net zero Scope 3 emissions by 2050 or sooner.
“This accreditation is a testament to Hyderabad Airport’s unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship,” said SGK Kishore, Executive Director & Chief Innovation Officer, GMR Airports, and President of ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East. “We will continue our dedicated efforts to sustain net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and collaborate closely with partners to achieve Scope 3 targets in line with the Paris Agreement.”
Congratulating RGIA, Stefano Baronci, Director General, ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East, remarked, “Hyderabad International Airport’s accomplishment highlights India’s leadership in airport decarbonisation.
