Hyderabad: In a significant step towards promoting eye health among school children, the New Town Charitable Trust (NTCT) distributed free powered spectacles to 176 students and school staff at Government High School here at Vijay Nagar Colony. The programme was attended by Hari Chandana Dasari, Collector and District Magistrate of Hyderabad, as the chief guest. NTCT had earlier conducted two eye screening camps on February 10 and February 18, during which 300 students were examined, and 161 were diagnosed with vision problems. Addressing the students, the Collector advised them to limit excessive mobile phone use and adopt healthy dietary habits, including consuming green vegetables and protein-rich foods for better eye health. She appreciated the NTCT’s efforts in organising screening camps, providing free spectacles to needy students, and spreading awareness about eye care. District Medical and Health Officer Dr J Venkati highlighted the importance of regular eye check-ups and proper use of spectacles to prevent long-term vision issues.
