Hyderabad: The Fire and Security Association of India (FSAI) has formulated a Fire Suraksha Index (FSI), a comprehensive evaluation system that assesses the fire and security readiness of buildings, national president of the FSAI said.

Speaking at the announcement of the National Seminar on Fire, Electrical, Security and Automation (FESA), Srinivas Valluri, National president, FSAI, said: “As per the National Crime Records Bureau, over 60 people die every day in India due to a fire incident. Every year, about 25,000 persons die due to fire and related causes in India. Fire accounts for about six per cent of the total deaths reported due to natural and unnatural causes. In this direction, FSI was reviewed, developed and implemented by the FSAI. It is one of its kind in the world. Many countries are studying FSI to emulate this practice.”
