Hyderabad: Singaporean gourmet donut brand Mad Over Donuts (MOD) has finally made its entry into the Hyderabad market, opening its first store in the city and announcing ambitious plans to expand rapidly across Telangana and other southern states. The brand, which already operates 170 outlets across India, plans to open at least five stores in Hyderabad over the next four to five months.
Looking ahead, MOD plans to open 500 stores across India within the next five years, extending its reach into Tier 2 cities like Warangal, Karimnagar, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. The brand is also preparing for international expansion, with Southeast Asia- especially Singapore- and the Middle East identified as potential markets starting next year. Speaking to Bizz Buzz, Tarak Bhattacharya, Executive Director and CEO of the company, explained the delay in entering the Hyderabad market. “It wasn’t due to any apprehensions. Hyderabad is a fantastic market for both bakeries and biryani.
We just needed time to strengthen our backend operations in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune before entering here,” he said.
The newly launched outlet in Hyderabad is designed as an “experiential store,” where customers not only purchase from a variety of donuts but also personalise their own creations. “We require around eight staff members to run a store of this size, and the focus is on offering an interactive and premium experience,” Bhattacharya added. The brand offers over 30 types of donuts including popular options like Kit Kat, Caramel, and Kunafa donuts. In addition to donuts, the menu includes brownies, éclairs, coffees, and bubble teas. Prices start at Rs79 and go up to Rs130.
Emoi Donuts is a 100 per cent vegetarian and eggless brand, a unique selling point that Bhattacharya believes sets them apart in the competitive bakery segment. “We’re proud to be a gourmet handmade, fully vegetarian brand. We want to reach not only Hyderabad but other parts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Rajasthan too,” he noted.
“We believe in owning and operating our stores to maintain quality and brand consistency,” Bhattacharya adds. Currently employing around 600 people, Emoi expects that number to rise to nearly 2,000 as it scales up operations in the coming years.
