Thousands of farmers across Telangana are reeling under confusion and frustration as the disbursement of Rythu Bharosa arrears remains uncertain. Despite repeated promises, the financial assistance expected under the scheme has not yet reached the beneficiaries, leaving many high and dry during a critical phase of the agricultural cycle.

The confusion stems from a lack of clear communication from the state government regarding the release timeline and eligibility details. While farmers were hopeful that the pending arrears from the Rythu Bharosa scheme — which aims to support farmers with investment assistance — would be cleared ahead of the monsoon season, many are still waiting.

In several districts, farmers have reported making repeated visits to local revenue and agriculture offices for clarity, only to return with no concrete answers. A significant number of them are struggling to purchase seeds, fertilizers, and other essentials for the kharif season due to lack of funds.

“We were promised timely support, but the government has gone silent. Many of us are borrowing money from private lenders at high interest rates,” said a distressed farmer from Nalgonda district.

Opposition leaders have criticized the government for its failure to uphold commitments to the farming community. Some allege that the delay in payments is politically motivated or due to administrative lapses after the change in power.

Agricultural associations have demanded an official statement and timeline for the release of arrears, warning of protests if the issue is not resolved soon.

As the monsoon sets in, the delay could prove detrimental not just to individual farmers but also to overall agricultural output in the state. Experts urge immediate resolution to prevent further damage to the rural economy.
