Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy sought for financial support from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), for funding several flagship urban transformation projects including the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-2, Musi rejuvenation, Radial Roads, and other infrastructure projects.

On the first day of the seven-day investment tour to Japan, the official Telangana Rising delegation led by Chief Minister met Senior Vice President of JICA, Shohei Hara and briefed him about the infrastructure projects planned in and around the city.

During a meeting with the JICA team, Revanth Reddy informed about the Metro Rail phase-2 project proposal that is under consideration by Government of India. The project, with an investment of Rs 24,269 crore, is a joint venture between Centre and State government of Telangana.

The Chief Minister sought JICA’s support for 48 per cent loan component of the project, which is about Rs 11,693 crore. He also informed that the state government is abiding by Centre’s foreign debt funding norms. He also urged JICA to consider funding Musi rejuvenation project and the new radial roads connecting ORR and Regional Ring Roads (RRR), as well.

For receiving financial support from JICA, Shohei Hara asked the Chief Minister to pursue the Metro Rail and other infrastructure projects with the Government of India.

Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, Industries & IT; V Seshadri, Principal Secretary to CM; NVS Reddy, Managing Director, Metro Rail; Sarfraz Ahmed, HMDA, Commissioner; B Ajith Reddy, Secretary to CM, and other senior officers participated in the discussions.
