August Holidays in Hyderabad: Schools Closed on 10 Days
Telangana schools will stay closed on multiple dates in August 2025 for festivals like Varalakshmi Vratham, Raksha Bandhan, and Independence Day.

Schools across Hyderabad and the rest of Telangana will remain closed on several days in August 2025 due to religious festivals and national events, giving students a number of breaks from their academic schedules.
Educational institutions in the state will observe two consecutive holidays this week. August 8, Friday, is marked as an optional holiday for Varalakshmi Vratham, a ritual practiced by married women for the well-being of their families. On August 9, Saturday, schools will shut for Raksha Bandhan, a general holiday that commemorates the sibling relationship.
Additional closures are scheduled throughout the month. August 15, Thursday, marks Independence Day, a public holiday recognized nationwide. August 16, Friday, will be observed for Krishna Janmashtami, celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna. Another day of closure falls on August 27, Tuesday, for Vinayaka Chavithi, which honors Lord Ganesha.
Besides these, the month includes five Sundays, which are regular weekly holidays. This brings the total to ten non-working days in August for schools and government offices across the state.
