Hyderabad: New Jersey-headquartered Zoetis, an animal healthcare company on Tuesday announced the expansion of its India Capability Center in Hyderabad. Telangana IT Minister D Sridhar Babu inaugurated the new facility. Without revealing the investment that went into setting up the ICC, Zoetis said that highly skilled talent will be hired here to work on emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Analytics, for developing AI-driven diagnostic tools to digital solutions for veterinarians, among others.

Zoetis entered Hyderabad last year by setting up a team of 30 people for carrying out functions related to ERP. Over a year, they have doubled the headcount to 60. Now, with the ICC, spread across 40,000 sft and holding a capacity to seat 350 professionals, Zoetis is scaling up its operations to technology and digital development.

Speaking to media, Anil Raghav, Vice President and Head, Zoetis India Capability Center, said that the talent they are looking to hire here includes data engineers, data scientists, and AI/ML specialists. “Technology is going to be the key enabler for how fast we will be able to discover a molecule, develop a medicine and be able to manufacture and make it commercially available. For across this spectrum, the ICC facility will focus on the tech and digital part of it.”

Outside the US, ICC in Hyderabad is the largest and concentrated tech and digital Centre, informed Keith Sarbaugh, Chief Information Officer, Zoetis. He went on to add that the talent pool available here and the support extended by the State government has driven Zoetis towards establishing their largesttech centre in this city.

The India Head informed that the Company imports medication and vaccines for pets primarily from the US. Through Contract Manufacturers in India, it locally manufactures specific drugs for the livestock portfolio.

“We have registered larger per cent of business from livestock. However, we see growth in the pet medicine segment as it is growing more than 20 per cent in India. Globally, animal health sector is growing at four to six per cent, and 10 -12 per cent in India. We are growing faster than the industry growth,” an official said. Zoetis reported a revenue of $8,5 billion in 2023, and their global

headcount is over 14,000.
