Djokovic surpasses Federer milestone at US Open 🎾, eyes record 25th major as he advances to last 32 to face Cameron Norrie.
Novak Djokovic Makes History Again, Chasing Unprecedented 25th Grand Slam Title

Novak Djokovic broke another record at the US Open, surpassing Roger Federer’s mark for most Grand Slam third-round appearances as he eyes a historic 25th major title.
The 38-year-old Serbian star overcame a slow start to defeat American qualifier Zachary Svajda (6-7 [5/7], 6-3, 6-3, 6-1) 🎾, advancing to the third round in New York for a record 19th time.
Milestone victory 🏆
♦ 75th career third-round appearance at a Grand Slam — the most in history
♦ 191st hard-court Grand Slam win, equalling Federer’s record
♦ Four-time US Open champion, now chasing an unprecedented 25th major title
Djokovic admitted he was not fully satisfied with his level of play but credited his ability to adapt:
“It’s really about trying to make the most out of that day and win a tennis match, find a way to win… I’m not pleased with my level, but you just kind of find a way.”
Finding rhythm after a sluggish start ⚡
After dropping the first set in a tiebreak, Djokovic adjusted his game, winning 11 of the last 12 games as Svajda — ranked 145 in the world — battled cramps.
Reflecting on his mindset, Djokovic said:
“One can always think there’s nothing more to achieve, but it’s relative… I still love competition, the drive I feel on the court.”
He also acknowledged working to regain top form after a post-Wimbledon break:
“The deeper I go into the tournament, the better I feel about my game.”
Next challenge 🔜
Djokovic will face Britain’s Cameron Norrie 🇬🇧 in the last 32 as he continues his bid to make history in New York.
Despite his dominance, the Serb remains relentlessly self-critical:
“I get really hard on myself because I expect to play at the highest level — which is not always possible.”
