The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 countdown has started, India, and Sri Lanka as the new hosts of this prestigious tournament. The first phase of ticket sales has been cleared, allowing fans the opportunity to witness the cricket extravaganza live. In India, the tickets are priced starting from a mere Rs. 100 while in Sri Lanka it is LKR 1000 which is about Rs. 270. There are a total of 2 million tickets available for sale in this phase, and the ICC will soon announce the details for phase two.
Sanjog Gupta, the CEO of ICC, warned that the ticket prices would be quite easy to bear for the fans. "Our ambition is to let the whole world of cricket, regardless of where they live or their economic condition, see the top matches live. Making tickets of Rs. 100 available is just one of the steps aimed at making this World Cup more open for fans all over the world," he said.
Ashley de Silva, the CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket, spoke about the fan attendance with a positive tone. "It is a great honor to have the tournament in partnership with India. We predict huge crowds at the stadiums. The first phase of the tickets is open for sale now so fans should hurry and get their places booked," he mentioned.
The eight locations in India, and Sri Lanka will play host to the matches. The tournament will see participation from 20 teams with a total of 55 matches played, thus guaranteeing a busy schedule of events for the cricket fans. Tickets would-be fans advised to act quickly as the stadiums will likely be full quickly.
