The 2026 T20 World Cup squad of India was officially outfitted on Wednesday when Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma presented the new jersey during the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur. The fashion has light and deep blue striations, which are reminiscent of the famous India cricket jerseys of the 1990s, though they are composed of modern performance elements.
The 10th T20 World Cup will be played from February 7 to March 8, 2026, and it will be held at eight venues in India and Sri Lanka. India is in Group A with Pakistan, the USA, the Netherlands, and Namibia. The Indian team’s first match is against the USA in Mumbai on February 7.
Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup in 2024 and the brand ambassador for the 2026 edition, opened the ceremony. He said, “This journey has been nothing but a dream come true, from being a fan to leading India on the field. The new jersey communicates that same pride and togetherness, no matter if you are playing or cheering."
The uniform combines modern performance characteristics with a nostalgic vibe while keeping the distinctive neckline of the 2024 T20 World Cup jersey. The officials emphasized that the jersey has been designed in such a way that it not only provides comfort to the players but also gives them a nostalgic feeling, and it has a new look for the tournament.
The day was marked by Virat Kohli's 84th international century, which was his 53rd in ODIs, thus making the event even more significant. The cricket fans were part of a moment where the great past and the bright future met.
India has marked its presence twice in T20 World Cup by claiming the title in 2007 and 2013. The first victory in 2007 was a starting point for the Indian team to become the world's best in this tournament, and the second winning in 2013 was a close final where Kohli's fifty and Yadav's amazing catch turned the match in favor of the Indians. Along with Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh, bowler Jasprit Bumrah was instrumental at the crucial stages in restricting the other team.
