Seema Punia Faces 16-Month Ban After Failing Doping Test in Athletics

Seema Punia, former Asian Games Discus champion, was suspended for 1 year and 4 months following a doping test failure,,,, appearing among new entries cited by NADA as of the 10th of November 2025.
It has been learned that NADA has not been disclosing the name of the substance, thus evoking further speculation about it being the third failed test for Punia. Only once in her formative years was she given a suspension for violation. Meanwhile, it seems that alongside Seema Punia, yet other Indian athletes were caught red-handed:
- Pooja Yadav - Long-Distance/Illegal Abuser-4-Years suspension
- Manjeet Kumar - Short Putter/Illegal Abuser-6-Year Ban
- Nikesh Dhanraj Rathod - Long-Distance Soldier/Illegal Abuser-4-Year Ban
Seema Punia egregious fact?
Seema Punia was born to a family in Kaheda, in the district of Sonipat in Haryana. She started her sports career quite early, at the age of 11. At the beginning, she tried her talent in hurdling and long jump, yet later gave her consent to launching discus. She came to ascendancy in Santiago when she acquired the Gold Medal during the World Junior Championships in the year 2000 under the nickname 'Millennium Child.'
Her career's best throw was registered as 64.84 meters in the year 2004 in Kyiv, while she was still a student in the Government College. Subsequently, the performances:
1) A Common wealth medal in 2010.
2) 12th in the 2012 London Olympics.
3) Bronze at 2012 Asian Games Hangzhou, Year 2023.
She has waited all these years for that gold at the Asian Games in Incheon, 2014.
She got her three silvers at the Commonwealth Games; she is waiting for her fourth silver.
Bronze at the 2002 World Junior Championships.
On June 26, 2006, Punia was awarded the Bhim Award as the biggest giant of our state, Haryana. Nothing could have been worse than the blunders which eventually culminated in Seema's forced resignation from the Asian Games in 2006 over what turned out to be a positive dope test for the steroid stanozolol. The National Federation also allowed her to play; thereby giving the impression that the good side of the news had garnered the bold points for the athletes.
She is married to Ankush Punia, her personal coach, who was a discus thrower in the 2004 Athens Olympics, representing the country.
