Rohit Sharma Hints at Retirement With Virat Kohli After Emotional Win in Sydney

It could be the beginning of an end of one of the glorious phases in Indian cricket. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli might no longer contest matches in Australia, leading India to a win against Australia by nine wickets in the last ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
Despite losing the series 1–2, the last match produced a beautiful memory for the supporters as both players performed at their best — Rohit scoring a magnificent unbeaten 121, and Kohli contributing to the India's pursuit with a stylish 74 not out.
🗣️ Rohit Sharma’s Emotional Message: “Don’t Know If We’ll Be Coming Back”
Rohit Sharma had a very emotional conversation with Adam Gilchrist and Ravi Shastri in a post-match interview, revealing that this might be his last time in Australia.
"I have always loved coming to this place and playing cricket at this venue (Sydney). It brings back 2008 memories — my first tour of Australia. Don’t know if we will come back (as cricketers), but I enjoyed every bit of it,” Rohit said.
“We have enjoyed playing here no matter what the accolades over the years. Forget the last 15 years — I have always loved playing here and I think it will be the same for Virat. Thank you, Australia.”
🏏 Kohli Echoes the Sentiment
Virat Kohli also thanked Australian fans, and he admitted his love for the country and the passionate cricket culture.
“We come to this country and love playing in front of huge crowds. Here we have played some of our best cricket. We thank you for your hospitality,” said Kohli.
The emotional moments between India’s two modern legends led to fans and experts speculating that both might announce their retirement from international cricket or at least from tours to Australia.
🇮🇳 India’s Dominant Win at the SCG
The victory was made possible by the Indian pacer Harshit Rana who delivered a blistering spell of 4/39, thus, leading the Indian team to bowl out the Australians for 236 in 46.4 overs.
In response, Rohit and Kohli exhibited a batting workshop. After a 69-run opening partnership with Shubman Gill (24) Rohit and Kohli had a combined 168-run partnership that was not out and sealed the chase in just 38.3 overs.
🌟 A Fitting Farewell?
If it really was the end of the road for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in Australia, it could not have been written better — two legends, side by side, ruling over the same pitch where their greatness was first recognized.
