PKL 2025 Schedule and Venues to Be Announced Soon
While the exact match schedule and venue details are yet to be revealed, organizers have confirmed that the format will remain consistent with previous seasons. The PKL typically follows a double round-robin format, with each team facing off twice before the top six teams advance to the playoffs.
Massive Auction Sets the Stage for a Competitive Season
This year’s season follows a record-breaking player auction, where 10 players crossed the ₹1 crore mark, signaling intense competition ahead. A total of 121 players were picked across all teams during the two-day auction held in Mumbai on May 31 and June 1.
Anupam Goswami, the league’s business head, stated:
“Following a record-breaking player auction, which saw 10 players cross the INR 1 crore mark, we have set a foundation for what promises to be our most competitive season yet.”
Top Buys: Shadloui and Dalal Lead the Pack
- Mohammadreza Shadloui (Iran) became the most expensive player in PKL history, picked by Gujarat Giants for ₹2.23 crore.
- Devank Dalal, bought by Bengal Warriorz for ₹2.205 crore, was the costliest Indian player in the auction.
Defending Champions and Past Winners
Haryana Steelers, the reigning champions, will be looking to defend their crown, while past champions like the Patna Pirates—the most successful team with three titles—aim to reclaim their dominance. In total, eight different teams have won titles over the league's previous 11 seasons, making PKL one of the most unpredictable and thrilling leagues in Indian sports.
International Talent to Shine Again
This season will once again showcase top kabaddi talent from India and around the world, with international stars joining Indian stalwarts in a celebration of one of the country’s oldest and most dynamic sports.
