With his third-round throw Neeraj Chopra achieved the status of the 25th person to exceed the 90-meter mark while surpassing his national record of 89.94m previously set during the Stockholm Diamond League in 2022.

At the Neeraj Chopra Doha Diamond League on Friday Neeraj Chopra from India surpassed the 90-meter benchmark with his incredible 90.23m throw. After finally reaching the monumental 90-meter benchmark he pursued for so long he finished second to Germany’s Julian Weber who achieved his first 90m+ throw in a thrilling competition.
Neeraj's latest jump marked him as the 25th athlete to surpass the Neeraj Chopra 90 meter throw while also surpassing his national record of 89.94 meters established at the 2022 Stockholm Diamond League.
His first throw was a powerful 88.44m before fouling his next attempt. With his third throw, Neeraj Chopra launched the javelin to a Neeraj Chopra national record, setting a new national benchmark. During the following rounds of his performance he achieved a throw of 80.56m and another foul before delivering his last effort of 88.20m.
Neeraj achieved a milestone that places him 24th among athletes who surpassed the 90-meter mark and moved ahead of both Germany’s Max Dehning who threw 90.20m and Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott who posted 90.16m. The 90.23m throw places him at 101st position on the list of longest individual throws ever recorded. The athlete becomes the third Asian javelin thrower to achieve a throw beyond 90 meters along with Pakistani Arshad Nadeem who reached 92.97m and Chao-Tsun Cheng from Chinese Taipei who threw 91.36m.
Julian Weber made his first throw exceeding Neeraj Chopra 90.23m mark during the Doha competition which earned him the ranking of 26th athlete to achieve this milestone. The group of top javelin throwers who have surpassed 90 meters contains Jan Zelezny the Czech world record holder who also serves as coach for Neeraj Chopra
Seven German athletes lead the group of 26 javelin throwers who have crossed the 90-meter mark with Finland following at four and two from the Czech Republic. The lists shows the throwers from different countries, including the USA, Russia, Greece, Grenada, Great Britain, Latvia, Chinese Taipei, Estonia, Kenya, Norway, Trinidad and Tobago, Pakistan, and India thanks to Neeraj Chopra.
