Mumbai Indians (MI) have disclosed the majority of their roster that has been retained prior to the IPL 2026 auction, creating the highest competition once again. The victorious team five times before had reached Qualifier 2 in the previous year’s knockout stage after a rough beginning in which they lost four of their first five games.
Mumbai released 10 players prior to the auction among which Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman was the most notable. Through trades, the franchise reinforced its squad taking Shardul Thakur from Lucknow Super Giants in return for Arjun Tendulkar and getting Sherfane Rutherford from Gujarat Titans and Mayank Markande from Kolkata Knight Riders.
Now, Mumbai Indians have a remaining purse of Rs 2.75 crore, thus granting them the flexibility to recruit new talent at the upcoming auction, which has not started yet.
The team led by Hardik Pandya recovered from a disappointing 2024 campaign and almost reached the final in 2025, where their path was blocked in the semifinal by Shreyas Iyer’s Punjab Kings. Pandya will try to push the team next year in their quest for the sixth IPL title.
