LSG has confirmed the appointment of the legendary Australian all-rounder, Tom Moody, as their Global Director of Cricket, a major development ahead of the IPL 2026 season. The mastermind of cricket will work on various operations around the RPSG Group world franchises, including Durban's Super Giants (SA20, South Africa) and Manchester Originals (The Hundred, England).
Under his new role, Moody will be responsible for shaping cricketing strategy, managing player auctions and retentions, and strengthening global talent scouting for all RPSG-owned teams.
“It’s a privilege to accept the role as Global Director of Cricket for the RPSG Group,” said Moody. “After positive discussions with Mr. Goenka, it became clear this was an exciting opportunity. I look forward to helping build a unified cricket philosophy across franchises and driving excellence in performance and player development.”
Moody’s addition forms a high-powered leadership trio at LSG, joining head coach Justin Langer and strategic advisor Kane Williamson — both of whom bring immense international experience to the setup.
A Wealth of Experience in Global Cricket
Nicknamed “Big Tom” for his towering 1.98-metre frame, Moody brings decades of experience as a player, coach, and mentor. A member of Australia’s 1987 and 1999 World Cup-winning squads, Moody played 8 Tests and 76 ODIs between 1987 and 1999.
After retiring in 2001, he transitioned into coaching and commentary, leading Sri Lanka to the 2007 World Cup final and later managing Western Australia. Moody has also been a prominent figure in franchise cricket, having coached Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, as well as teams in the BBL, CPL, PSL, BPL, and Global T20 Canada.
LSG Eye Maiden IPL Title
With Tom Moody’s strategic expertise now complementing Langer’s coaching acumen and Williamson’s tactical insight, Lucknow Super Giants aim to capture their first-ever IPL title in 2026. The team’s management believes this combination could set a new standard for professionalism and long-term success across global cricket leagues.
