Mumbai Indians made a smart move in the IPL 2026 mini auction. Mumbai, which entered the auction at the lowest price of Rs 2.75 crore in the mini auction held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, bought the players they wanted. They bought their former player Quinton de Kock for his base price of Rs 1 crore.
In addition to retaining all the key players, they brought in the players they wanted through trading before the auction. They traded Shardul Thakur, Sherfane Rutherford, and Mayank Markande. With that, Mumbai Indians had little to do in this auction. Even though they had only Rs.2.75 crore in hand, they acted wisely and bought players like swords.
Mumbai Indians needed a backup opener and a wicketkeeper, and they filled both positions with de Kock. Along with de Kock, they bought unknown players like Danish Malewar, Mohammed Izhar, Atharva Ankolekar, and Mayank Rawant. On paper, Mumbai Indians look strong.
