Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad complete budget signings as a brief bidding confusion occurs during the IPL 2026 live auction.
Mumbai Indians (MI) strengthened their team by acquiring Mohmmad Izhar for ₹30 lakh. The young Indian player gained attention towards the end of the round, and MI made a bold move to buy him at a low price, thus increasing the numbers of their local players.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were also very active and took Sakib Hussain for ₹30 lakh right after he was auctioned. They also got Onkar Tarmale for the same price, which means they are still implementing their plan of buying new Indian players to keep the squad balanced.
On the other hand, KM Asif and the seasoned leg-spinner Murugan Ashwin did not manage to get buyers in this round and stayed unsold, which is an indication of the franchises’ cautious strategy as they have to manage their budgets.
Auction Floor Drama: Mallika Sagar’s Slip During Aman Khan Bidding
The auction event displayed one of those rare moments of confusion with auctioneer Mallika Sagar during the bidding for Aman Khan. Initially, the sale was closed in favor of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at ₹30 lakh, but moments later, Punjab Kings lifted their paddle, which led to the reopening of the bidding.
The episode temporarily discomfited CSK representatives, but it was soon clarified and Chennai was at last acquiring Aman Khan for ₹40 lakh — ₹10 lakh over the original price. Through the inconvenience, CSK got their desired target while the incident became one of the hot topics of the night session.
With the IPL 2026 auction going on, teams are still trying to manage their money wisely and look for last-minute deals, while the atmosphere in the auction room remains very intense.
