Cameron Green and Venkatesh Iyer lead the elite ₹2 crore base price group as the IPL 2026 auction longlist of 1,355 players is officially released.

The auction for IPL 2026 has started officially the countdown with the announcement of a huge list of 1,355 registered players. Franchises got the longlist after the registration deadline of November 30 and among others, there are 45 players in the most expensive base price group of ₹2 crore. These elite ones are Cameron Green, Liam Livingstone, Matheesha Pathirana, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Indian cricketers Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi.
With ten teams there are only 77 squad vacancies left—of which 31 are for foreign players—and franchises will send their shortlisted players by December 5. The final auction will occur in Abu Dhabi on December 16 which will be an important moment for the building of the squad for the 2026 season.
Big Names in the ₹2 Crore Club
Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is the face of the category. He was out during the 2025 mega auction because of a back injury but his all-rounder skills make him one of the most wanted names this year. The Kolkata Knight Riders who have a big budget of ₹64.3 crore and the Chennai Super Kings who have ₹43.4 crore are expected to fight aggressively for the bidding—particularly with the overseas slots available and the retirement of Andre Russell guiding KKR’s approach.
The top tier has among others, players who were released in the past seasons. Pathirana, who was let go by CSK and Livingstone, who after a lean season was released by RCB, are expected to attract a lot of interest. Also, Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi, both recently released and having previous high-value contracts, have also slotted into the ₹2 crore category among Indian players.
No Glenn Maxwell in the List
Glenn Maxwell who broke his finger during IPL 2025 is a major omission from the longlist. There is uncertainty about his future participation which raised the question of whether he would return or not. On the other hand, the Australian keeper Josh Inglis—vital for the Punjab Kings’ run to the 2025 final—has registered despite being available for just a quarter of the season due to personal commitments.
Global Talent Pool Expands
A total of 14 countries have players registering for the 2026 auction, among them the big names are Steve Smith, Mustafizur Rahman, Rachin Ravindra, Gerald Coetzee, and young talents like Jake Fraser-McGurk and Jamie Smith. The experienced all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has set his base price at.
Indian players like Mayank Agarwal, KS Bharat, Rahul Chahar, Prithvi Shaw, and Navdeep Saini have joined the lot as well. Interestingly, even a player from Malaysia—Virandeep Singh, an all-rounder of Indian descent—has been included in the list with a base price of ₹30 lakh.
A High-Stakes Battle Ahead
The IPL 2026 auction will be a battlefield of intense bidding wars, strategic gambles, and possible blockbuster signings as franchises prepare for a competitive new season owing to the fact that the teams hold a total of ₹237.55 crore for the auction and a number of key roster gaps to fill.
