IPL 2025 to Resume Next Week: Schedule and venue announcements awaited

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to resume next week, with the much-anticipated clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) marking the tournament’s restart. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed the resumption but is yet to finalize the venues for the remaining matches.
According to reports, four venues will host the upcoming fixtures, although the exact list is still being finalized. A BCCI official stated that the venues for the Qualifier, Eliminator, and Final are expected to remain unchanged, but contingency plans are in place should weather conditions—particularly rain in Kolkata—necessitate a shift in the final venue.
The tournament had been temporarily suspended last Friday due to rising security concerns stemming from escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The suspension came during the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, which was abruptly halted mid-first innings. Spectators were evacuated, and both teams were safely escorted back to their hotels.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia released an official statement confirming a one-week suspension to ensure the safety of all stakeholders. “After discussions with franchisees, broadcasters, sponsors, and fans, we decided to pause the tournament. While we trust our armed forces completely, prioritizing the collective well-being was essential,” he said.
Following a ceasefire agreement on Saturday, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla assured fans that preparations are underway for a smooth restart. “The BCCI is closely monitoring the situation. No final decision has been taken yet, but the tournament will resume shortly,” he said.
Further updates regarding revised match schedules and confirmed venues are expected to be announced in the coming days.
