IND vs SA Live Score: Yashasvi Jaiswal Hits Fifty as India Reach 85/1 on Day 3 | 2nd Test Guwahati

India carried the momentum that it gained from the late surge of Day 2--their best session of the tour so far--into Day 3, with Shubman Gill's fifty giving their freedom fighters some chance of a replication. Only one wicket fell in their first session during the ongoing match, which has fetched India 350 runs.
Good Start, Early Blow
Jaiswal displayed his spark by giving KL Rahul excellent support at the other end. Rahul found his foot and started to look comfortable until a soft edge, while trying to steer past first slip, changed all his plans, as the South African bowler, Maharaj, cheered and danced down the wicket. This wicket snatched momentum away from India as the two openers had settled in.
After Rahul lost his wicket, Sai Sudharsan, the new guy at 3, came in to the crease. The Tamil Nadu lad will want to power his way through a good innings and try to leave an indelible impact on the selectors in the future.
Expert Insight: A Test of Technique
On-air commentator Murali Kartik highlighted a technical pattern — Sudharsan has repeatedly struggled by playing off the back foot to deliveries demanding front-foot defense. Comparisons were drawn to his dismissal in the Delhi Test against West Indies, where a similar error cost him his wicket. With spinners Maharaj and Harmer generating turn and slower drift, shot selection will be crucial for India’s middle order.
Match Situation
South Africa posted a strong first-innings total of 489. India now faces the challenge of building a solid reply to stay competitive in the Test.
