ICC Rankings: Rohit Sharma Retains No. 1 Spot, Virat Kohli Climbs to No. 2

India's premier batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been the main authorities in the lately published ICC ODI Rankings, which were made public on Wednesday. Rohit remains as the top player in the list with 781 rating points and Kohli has climbed to the second place with 773 points after a very good performance in the just concluded South Africa ODI series.
Rohit, who took the first position for the first time after the Australia ODI series, has managed to keep his place. On the other hand, Kohli moved up two spots after hitting two hundreds and a fifty against South Africa, thus, taking back his position among the elite ODI scorers.
The remaining players in the top five are Daryl Mitchell, Ibrahim Zadran, and Shubman Gill. Shreyas Iyer from India who is presently sidelined because of injury has slipped to the 10th position, while KL Rahul has gone up by two positions to the 12th spot.
Kuldeep Yadav is the bowler who has made the biggest jump in the charts, moving up three spots to the 3rd position. At the same time, Keshav Maharaj from South Africa has been demoted to the 5th position, and Ravindra Jadeja from India is now placed at No. 16. Axar Patel is still the only Indian player in the top 10 among the ODI all-rounders.
Regarding the T20I rankings, Abhishek Sharma continues to be the number one batter. As a consequence, Tilak Varma has fallen to the sixth rank and Suryakumar Yadav has slipped out of the top five and is now at No. 10. However, Hardik Pandya has gained three places and is the T20I all-rounder No. 4 now.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, after making their retirement from T20Is and Tests public, have directed all their attention to ODIs, eyeing the 2027 ODI World Cup. Recently, both players have been on the receiving end of much praise—Ravi Shastri advised the critics not to conclude their saga yet and that just a little patience is needed, while Harbhajan Singh was speculating if there exists another player who could outshine this experienced pair.
