The playing XI for England's second Test match against India, which starts at Edgbaston on Wednesday, has not changed. The victorious squad from the exciting first Test at Headingley was chosen by England despite rumours that fast bowler Jofra Archer may make a comeback.
In the fourth innings, the home team's outstanding batting performance as they chased down a difficult goal of 371 left the audience in awe. England's resounding performance featured centuries from Ben Duckett (149) and Ollie Pope (106).
Jofra Archer was added to the team for the five-match series last week after missing the first Test, although he missed Monday's training at Edgbaston because of a family matter. Archer is anticipated to return to the squad on Tuesday in advance of the second Test, according to confirmation from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Archer last played in a Test match against India in Ahmedabad more than four years ago. He has struggled with an elbow issue that has affected his bowling arm in recent years.
Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jamie Smith (wk), Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue, Shoaib Bashir, and Zak Crawley make up England's playing eleven against India in the second test.
