The BCCI has selected a reduced list of 350 players for the IPL 2026 auction, which will be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16. The number was settled after discussions with all teams, and it is a major cut from the original list of 1,355 players.

Quinton de Kock is the one who stands out the most among the 35 newly added players to the final register, as the name of the South African wicketkeeper-batter was not present in the original list. The player was eventually included due to a recommendation from a franchise. The 33-year-old De Kock has just come back from international retirement and scored a hundred in the ODI series against India, which has increased his demand. His minimum price has been fixed at ₹1 crore, which is half of what he was valued at in the previous mega auction, where KKR bought him but then let go of him after a poor season.

The updated roster also features several Sri Lankan players, including Traveen Mathew, Binura Fernando, Kusal Perera and Dunith Wellalage.

In a note to teams, the BCCI confirmed that the auction will begin at 1 pm UAE time (2:30 pm IST) at the Etihad Arena. The event will start with capped players, grouped by specialisation—batters, all-rounders, wicketkeeper-batters, fast bowlers and spinners—followed by uncapped players.

Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, expected to attract fierce bidding, headlines the opening batch of batters alongside Devon Conway, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Sarfaraz Khan, Prithvi Shaw and David Miller. Venkatesh Iyer leads the second lot of all-rounders.

Like previous auctions, an accelerated process will be introduced after Player No. 70, whose slot is held by Afghanistan’s Wahidullah Zadran. The first accelerated phase will cover players numbered 71 to 350, after which franchises can nominate unsold or unpresented players for a further accelerated round.
